The Australian Army and Defence Innovation Hub awarded three innovation contracts to develop next-generation Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) as part of Army’s Project LAND 129 Phase 4b. The three projects combine vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) abilities with fixed wing platforms to extend endurance, speed, or flight range. Skyborne’s expertise in Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) consulting and performance testing in wind tunnels was utilised in one of the projects. Enabling defence units to have airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities will be crucial to threat detection, observation, and classification.
