Eran Medagoda, PhD
Eran graduated from the University of Sydney in 2006 after completing his Bachelors degree in Aeronautical (Space) Engineering. In 2011, Eran gained his PhD in aerospace engineering from the University of Sydney, with his research focusing on the application of modern control techniques for automated flight. He has taught various undergradautate level flight mechanics and control courses, and is experienced in flight simulation. For over 7 years, Eran worked as a Guidance, Navigation and Control engineer designing autopilot systems for auto-steering vehicles in precision agriculture, and has filed numerous patents on that area.
Embedded Systems Engineer
Joshua graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Microelectronic Engineering in 2008. He is passionate about embedded systems development, having worked in firmware, hardware, linux, and embedded linux projects on smart grid, renewables, modern battery systems, rail safety products, passenger facing kiosks, power metering, and in-flight entertainment systems.
Joshua has built, tuned, and raced various high compression turbo Mazda rotaries and is currently interested in tuning and racing front wheel drive hatchbacks on autocross style circuits.
Josh graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering in 2017. He has experience in both the design and manufacturing aspects of engineering, having designed components to aid in the operation of UQ’s hypersonics facility, as well as designing and manufacturing a unique writing desk, various motorcycle components and other hobby projects such as a potato cannon. Josh started out at Skyborne as a work placement student, designing and manufacturing a prototype cane toad eradication vehicle.
Sam brings to the Skyborne team over three years’ experience in software and hardware development, as well as eight years in mechanical drafting. His keen interest in electronics stems from work in the field of material analysis using microwave and radiation-based technology. Sam has previously been lucky enough to head the design of a handheld device from prototype to mass production, handling all aspects from mechanical design through to software and user interface.
Bryce graduated from the University of Queensland in 2017 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, attaining first-class Honours. He has developed bare-metal and RTOS-based firmware for commercial projects notably including computer networking, media players, and power conversion/distribution. Bryce also holds a Bachelor of Interactive Entertainment which he has used to develop 3D games and classical ray-tracing engines in C++. Bryce is passionate about firmware development and electronics design, applying his skills to independent hobby projects based primarily around 32-bit ARM microcontrollers.
Joe brings three years’ experience in GNC and software development to Skyborne. His career began in 2016, working as an aerodynamicist at UQ. Since mid-2016, he has worked on projects related to flight control and semi-autonomous systems. These include the design of an attitude control system for re-entry vehicle simulation, navigation systems development for a multi-rotor, and tractor auto-steering in precision agriculture. He holds a Bachelors in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (Hons 1) and is working towards a PhD in adaptive flight control of a suborbital re-entry vehicle.
Armourer / CNC Machinist
Mark is the former armourer for Metalstorm, which included; design, modification, R&D, assembly and testing of prototype systems. R&D, assembly/loading, testing & documentation of experimental ammunition.
He started his career in the Marine Engineering Dept of the Royal Australian Navy, completing his Fitting & Machining Trade through Sydney Tech. as well as certificates in Diesel generators, distilling plants, refrigeration, pneumatic & hydraulic systems.
Skyborne is a Brisbane based, Aerial Services company that specialises in photography and videography in a range of industries as well as R&D on a revolutionary hybrid tri-rotor design.
